Plane Ride-Landing-Train-Tim Duriez-Another Train

After a long plane ride, we finally landed in Paris! After we landed, we could ONLY speak French from now on! It is very difficult to speak only in French… en français s’il vous plait. After we went through customs (a surprisingly quick process), we got an amazing lunch of baguettes with ham or chicken and waited for our train to take us to Lille!  Once on the train, the first thing we noticed was how open and green the country side was, so different from LA! --Anna

Upon our arrival to Lille, Tim Duriez, our Poly exchange student, was waiting for us at the end of the platform.  He enthusiastically offered to show the group La Grande Place de Lille to the Poly group.  Upon our return, Jack and Charlie played the piano for the whole Lille-Flandre train station.  When our final train for Calais arrived, everyone pretty much collapsed!! Now we are at our homes and getting a good night's rest before a day in Dover, England tomorrow.

En Route!

After several preparation sessions over the past 3 months, we are finally on our way to France! Our journey is going to be a long one: an 11 hour plane ride, a 3 hour train ride, and a little bit of stopping in between. We are currently in the airport "drilling" strangers en français to practice our Rassias Method® teaching.... Just kidding! We have been practicing this method, which started with professor John Rassias at the Dartmouth Intensive Language Model, for about 4 months. It focuses on drama, action, pronunciation, and improvisation as a way to teach a new language. includes a lot of drama, and action in the classroom. Mme. Diederich's French II class has experienced this style of learning throughout the year! We are so excited to finally be boarding the plane!  --Katie and Shae
