Bienvenue à Paris!

In front of Victor Duruy

We've had a busy past few days since we arrived in Paris, and we're excited to share a few of our special moments with friends and family back home. Our students are missing their correspondantes from Marquise, yet they are all settling in well to city life in Paris. Two Polytechnic graduates who currently live here (Grant '12 and Teddy '16) have been showing us around the city this week, and their expertise with the French language (as well as their wonderful enthusiasm!) has been a true gift to the group. So far the weather has been perfect, and we've gotten to see many remarkable sites, including a few notables such as: Notre Dame, The Latin Quarter, the Jardins de Luxembourg, Shakespeare and Company, etc. Our trips on the Metro and the Paris buses have been especially exciting, and our students are adapting well maneuvering their way around the city. We can't wait to share the students' thoughts with you once they've caught up on some much needed sleep and digested their croissants and ice cream. (Not surprisingly, we've walked over 40, 000 steps in the last two days!)
Bonsoir!-- Mmes. Leroy, Diederich et Lyons

Chaperones with our Poly graduate helpers: Teddy and Grant. We feel so lucky to have former French students helping our current French students. Amazing!

Nick also showed up to the potluck after his long day of work at his internship in Paris.

A perfect day to visit Notre Dame: Wow.

Who's who in black and white shoes. (Look at the floor tiling.)

Life on the Metro: it looks easy here-- but look wait until 27 four-year-old French students hop on the train...

Yeah: life is pretty good. C'est vrai.

Spectaculaire! So great to see the group enjoying ND Cathédrale, the awesome Shakespeare Book Co, the tea ceremony, and of course the happy chaps and smiling alums. What a gorgeous day...and 40000 steps.

Magnifique! So jealous of this amazing immersion and cross cultural opportunity you are experiencing daily- French students, Poly alums, friends, historic sites, good food, spectacular weather, and memories that will last a lifetime! Great photos of the happy Francophiles and awesome photo of the columns.

The blog has been fantastic! Clearly a good time being had by all. We miss our "little girl" but she is obviously doing quite well without us!
Can't wait to see what's next!!

We are amazed by how many people you are meeting, places you are visiting, (foods you are eating), and experiences that you are all enjoying. Through the blog, we are able to go on this journey with each of you and see the world through your eyes. Every day you are are covering so much ground, both literally and figuratively, as you grow in understanding of a different culture and language. It is a joy as parents to watch you gain confidence in both yourselves and in others as you learn how to navigate a very big world in terms of distance, yet made smaller and more familiar through precious relationships and friendships. Thank you to Ms. Diederich, Ms. Lyons, Ms. Leroy and all those behind the scenes at Poly for all that you have done to ensure a successful experience for all, and thank you to the host families, teachers, French students, and many others for nurturing these bonds.

Hats off to all of the Poly students for immersing yourselves in the Poly GIP French exchange trip! To a job well done!
