Day 4 of the Saint Martin Extension- The A Team of Poly Assistants d'Anglais

There is now a big buzz about the Poly English assistants d'Anglais team and people are vying to have them in their classrooms.  We added 2 sixth grade (6e) groups and 2 5th grade classes (CM2) to our program and also attended French Language, Music and Art classes.  This group's energy is contagious!!--Mme. Today was another packed day of teaching at the school. Classes started out with a bang teaching sixth graders.  We had a ton of fun with drills and games, and the students were equally enthusiastic. We also got the opportunity to attend either a French, visual arts, or music class with the French students. Charlie and I decided to attend the music class, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. After singing several songs translated into French like “Englishmen in New York” and “Stand by Me,” I (Jack) got to play a few jazz standards on the class piano. The performance went very well, and I was received with a standing ovation and many high-fives.  The other Poly exchange students reported that their classes went equally well, especially in the French class that included a reading of Les Miserables. After the performance, we continued teaching and had a ton of fun reciting tongue twisters with the sixth graders like “Sally sells sea shells” and “Happy Hungry Hippos.” We got to eat at the school cafeteria, which is much different than Green Apple Gourmet, and their lunch period is much longer. For lunch, we ate beef stew, mashed potatoes and salad. For desert, we had little cups of pudding with whipped cream on top. We are all tired after a day of teaching, but still look forward to tomorrow.
