We had such a fun day yesterday!! On our free day, we went
with our correspondants to Lille to
shop and explore the city and we also attended a pride parade that happened to
take place on the same day that we were there. Shopping with our correspondants was very fun and we got
to know them better that day. Also, after we had finished shopping we stepped
into a café and enjoyed delicious cakes native to the north of France. They
were called “Les miraculeux” and they
had meringue and cream filling with chocolate shavings on top. They were
amazing! After our cakes, we walked over to the pride parade that was taking
place in Lille at the same time and it was so much fun! They handed us flags
and we danced down the streets of Lille following a float that was blasting
music! Apparently there was a very famous French celebrity on the float that we
followed! Also, they took a giant group photo of all of the attendees of the
parade that we were in! The pride parade was truly an unforgettable experience
for us and we are so happy that we had the chance to experience it! We plan on
attending many more pride parades once we return to Los Angeles.

Just got on the train to leave our first French family and
move on to the next. Everyone was sad to leave and there was a long goodbye as
the train slowly departed. Tears were shed and people waved goodbye for the
last time as we accelerated towards the next adventure. On the train, the group
wrote letters and drew pictures to send back to the families in Calais, while
also looking at the letters wrote to us by the little kiddies from Saint
Martin. The group has also discovered French candies (tbc…)
