Today we went to the most amazing place in the world, the
Venice of the north, the home of the greatest waffles and chocolate… Bruges, Belgium! After getting off the bus, we were
greeted to sunshine and nice weather, something we have not seen in a while! We
took a beautiful walk to the center of town where we saw glimpses of day to day
life, beautiful architecture, and their famous canals. We were so excited when
Mme. Diederich told us we got to take a canal ride! Immediately, we our breath
was taken away by the beauty the city displayed. We saw the 17th
century homes, the bridge of love surrounded by countless swans (where Anna and
Shae plan on getting engaged), every site we came across was an image out of a
storybook. After the canal ride, we went to the center square where a market
was open and we were allowed free time to explore the amazing city of Bruges.
Our first thought was… waffles (and chocolate obviously). Our group proceeded
to purchase the best waffles we have ever had topped with chocolate,
strawberries, and whip cream; truly a Belgian delight. After scarfing down our
waffles we ran into the nearest chocolate shop. There we were awestruck by the
wonderfully displayed chocolates. Some of us bought a couple of these while
others bought 20 euros worth (aka Anna J).
The beautiful architecture made us fall in love with the city even more. So
much so that Shae and Anna plan on moving there right away. Come visit in
Bruges and experience the wonderful city like we did!
